Zettai Kareshi… Comes Back?

February 12, 2009

Yes, just when you thought a J-drama ended in a very un-revivable way, they find SOME way to get it back for a special.

Zettai Kareshi/Absolute Boyfriend

The Japanese drama, Zettai Kareshi (or Absolute Boyfriend), aired last April and (I believe) received a good amount of popularity. Even though I really liked the drama, I know a lot of people were disappointed in the way the series was handled on screen. The drama’s plot revolves around a single woman who is involuntarily chosen to be apart of a study of… android boyfriends! It’s a fun story that actually turns out being pretty emotional in the end.

They’re coming out with a special. I am really surprised, but I will probably watch it because I’m lame like that. I simply cannot understand how they could continue this drama on, but then again, I haven’t read the manga.

Here is more information for you:

Fuji TV’s live-action “Zettai Kareshi” series is coming back for a special episode. Based on the manga by Yuu Watase, the series originally aired from April to June 2008.

The special, titled “Zettai Kareshi ~Kanzen Muketsu no Koibito Robot~,” is set after the end of the series. Mocomichi Hayami will reprise his role as the robot Night (Naito) Tenjo, along with co-stars Saki Aibu and Hiro Mizushima. The cast will have a couple of additions, with Ryoko Kuninaka playing a brilliant scientist and Asahi Uchida playing her assistant.

Fuji TV will broadcast the episode this spring.
