This and that: SNSD, Big Bang, 2NE1

  • Is anyone else curious about how SNSD’s comeback will turn out? Even though I think the sailor (re: costume) idea is a thinly disguised ploy to draw in that pervy-male audience, I can’t ignore the fact that they all look amazing and I hate them forever for it LMAO. Kidding! This is what the group has always been about (in part, of course), and I’ve learned to accept it. Their newest mini-album drops June 25; however, “Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)” (their single) will be out on the 22nd.

  • Another thing to look out for is Big Bang’s upcoming Japanese single, “My Heaven.” It comes out on the 24th, woot woot. It’s been promoted for so long before it’s release.

Japan and Korea do things very differently, don’t they? In Korea, it seems like a group will announce their comeback on one day, and the actual release of the new material is half a week away. For Japan (and the US, for that matter), they will talk about releasing something ages before you ever see any product. Both approaches are good. It just depends on what you’re going for: are you riding on initial hype and excitement, or well-seasoned anticipation?

Anyway, Big Bang will be doing both in a short span of time, it seems. Two weeks after “My Heaven” is released (July 8th), a new single will appear: “Ga Ra Ga Ra GO!!”. Thanks to K Bites for this newest information!

  • In my last bit of conversational news, it seems that the tracklist for 2NE1’s first mini-album, “Sugar,” has come out. The date for its release is July 1, but you’ll need to cross your fingers, because YG can change dates at the last minute (recall Big Bang’s “Stand Up”–even the teaser said August 1, but we got it on August 8). No matter when it comes out, I’m really anticipating it. Even though YG is finicky about things, they produce fine material.
    1. INTRO – Wassup We 2NE1
    2. Sugar
    3. 귀머거리 (DEAF)
    4. Get It Poppin’
    5. Touch Me (Park Bom solo)
    6. Fire (Remix)
